Capricorn & Aquarius Compatibility

Relationship Dynamic

Air and Earth pull in opposite directions by nature: Aquarius opens options and Capricorn closes them. The relationship works to exactly the degree that each stops treating the other's instinct as an obstacle. What Capricorn contributes is steadiness and the follow-through that turns intentions into results; what Aquarius contributes is perspective and a steady supply of ideas. Capricorn starts things and Aquarius keeps them going, which is one of the more productive divisions of labour in the zodiac, provided Aquarius is consulted before the next plan is announced. The ease is not automatic, but the effort invested comes back with interest.

Strengths of This Pairing

• ✦Capricorn brings patience, and the habit of finishing what was started
• ✦Aquarius adds clarity — the knack for putting the problem into words
• ✦Two different vantage points make solutions visible that neither of you reaches alone
• ✦A strength on the Capricorn side: exceptional discipline and long-term planning
• ✦A strength on the Aquarius side: visionary intelligence that transcends convention

Potential Challenges

• ◈Capricorn is built to start things and Aquarius to hold a course; agreeing on tempo takes more work here than agreeing on goals
• ◈The bridge between Earth and Air has to be built deliberately — it does not appear on its own
• ◈Worth watching on the Capricorn side: workaholism at the expense of relationships
• ◈Worth watching on the Aquarius side: emotional detachment in intimate relationships
• ◈If neither of you says out loud what you need, the common ground never quite forms
